Branched connections
The branched connections in FTS are almost exclusively mono-methyl-branched connections. They are formed preferentially at a high reaction temperature, but their proportion is usually well below approx. Little is known about their path of origin either. It is believed that either secondary replacement of olefins or a combination of an alkylidene with a methyl species may play a role in their formation.
